Not sure where the time has gone, but she'll always be my 'baby'!

Toddler Beanie

Well I finally made a crocheted beanie that fits my youngest daughter! I really love it and think it looks super cute on her! Now to get one made for each of my older girls... oh if only there were more hours in the day!

Crocheted Blanket and Beanie

I love making baby blankets for family and friends whenever they're expecting! I think just about every baby in my 'circle' has received one! Here is a picture of my latest blanket and matching beanie with crocheted flower accent. There's something refreshing about the colours in this one - not the typical baby blue or pastel pink. The blanket pattern is one that was handed down to me by my grandmother. I do not know the name of it, nor have I ever been able to find anything like it!

TAG, You're It!

Here I go learning things again... it seems that today is Tag Tuesday hosted by Adventures Of A Military Family. It is similar to Follow Friday, but allows participants to share not only blog info, but Facebook pages (HERE is mine by the way) and giveaway updates! What a great idea coming from the mind of such a busy Mama! Just click on the button below for the list of 'players' and all the 'rules' - there aren't many.

So join the fun... cause "TAG! YOU'RE IT!"

Happy Friday Follow!

I just learned of Friday Follow 2 weeks ago and was totally looking forward to it when I woke up this morning (that's not sad is it?) - what a great opportunity to get new followers and discover some great blogs! If you found me through FF... Welcome! I look forward to peeking in on you :)

Friday Follow

Weekend Company... Ack!

So, we are expecting company tomorrow - err, make that today as it's so late :( My hubby's Mom, his Aunt and his Aunt's husband (no, not called "Uncle" - it's complicated) will be here late Friday night...

While I do consider myself "Super Mom" and "Super Wife", there's something about having company for an entire weekend that makes me go into hyper-drive... what will I make for lunch? dinner? are there enough clean towels? is the house clean enough? ... are the children clean enough?! I spent a lot of my night tidying and straightening and still have a few things left on my 'essentials' list - not to be confused with my hubby's 'would like to do even if it's something that can wait till we're less busy' list.

You know, I really do enjoy being the hostess, or maybe it's that I often don't care to be the guest. Either way, I'm looking forward to a little adult conversation and maybe a game of cards... we're a wild bunch!

I Am Not A Baker

I am not a baker. But there was once a time in my life when I dabbled. I enjoyed baking - the process of turning something from nothing. That time in my life was clearly pre-kidlings. I remember those days... waking at 10am, showering (and shaving!) at my leisure, purchasing things on a whim... Now, I consider myself ahead of the game if I have a plan for dinner before 5pm rolls around never mind finding the time to bake something that doesn't come from a tub (yay for McMillian's ready made cookie dough!).

This past week was March Break and I had big plans for my daughters and I to bake cookies from, you guessed it... scratch! BUT, the weather turned out to be so fantastic we didn't spend much time indoors (could global warming be all that bad?!... just sayin'). Today on the other hand was one of those cool, windy, don't really wanna leave the house kind of days.

I decided to wait till my youngest was asleep only because I figured my 4 year olds would get more out of the experience when their little sister's not clamoring for top spot at the counter. Because I'm not a baker - did I mention that?! We used the recipe that was on the back of the chocolate chip package.

My girls did a fantastic job working together and I really enjoyed doing it. We may just need to bake again sometime soon ;)

... they turned out great!!

The Creative Itch

Every now and then I literally get an 'itch' to do something creative. Okay, so not "literally", but you get the idea. This 'itch' often continues to pester me until I start a project. There are times - as you can surely imagine, that these 'projects' don't get finished as I have 3 children, a hubby, a cat and a university course on my plate... just sayin', but I still enjoy the relaxation that comes from doing something different than - the usual (i.e. diapers, dishes, refereeing...).

Be sure to check out the tab "Creative Inspiration" for projects I've completed as well as others I've found in my 'travels' that you might be interested in. Enjoy!

Riding the Wave?

It has become apparent that another "baby wave" is hitting and this time... I am NOT on it! Like most things, baby 'hatching' seems to come and go in waves - at least around here! Within our family and group of friends, we rode the first 2 waves... first we had twins in 2005 and then a third girl in 2008. As this wave begins (we've already heard from 2 friends and their upcoming bundles - and it's only March!), we will watch from the shore.

Does this make me happy? Um, well, when I remember the first smiles, sleeping on the chest and baby yawns (they are amazing!) I get a little sad. BUT, then I remember the sleepless nights, crackled nipples (bit of a learning curve there!) and laundry. Our time with newbies is over so I'm happy to watch this time... there's something kinda nice about sitting back and watching people experience new things - been there, done that!

We have 3 bright, beautiful, healthy girls who amaze me everyday. Our 'wave' these days includes the struggle for independence, the desire to wear 'make up' and the ability to realize that "relax" means stop arguing with your sister and just give her the marker she's asking you for!

Virgin Blogger Signing In

So here I go, my very first Take A Mom's Word For It post! I have been super busy networking and lining up a couple great giveaways that I am so excited to have the opportunity to share with everyone - more on that later! ;)

First, let me tell you a little about myself. I am a 32 year old Mommy, Wife, Sister, Aunt and Daughter. I have 3 very bright and beautiful girls aged 4, 4, and 1! Yes twins, yes a surprise, no, not identical, and yes we were worried about having twins again (that should about cover the standard questions I get!). I have been married for 8 years this summer to a fantastic, hard working and dedicated man who keeps me going. Though I am an elementary school teacher I extended my leave after having my youngest and am enjoying every minute of it... ok, not EVERY minute of it, but you get my point!

I spend my "G" Rated days playing, reading, singing and laughing... the "PG" version includes playing referee between sisters who are best friends and worst enemies, wiping bums and arguing over trying new foods... the "R" version is, well, "R" rated ;)

In my 'spare time' (I laughed out loud just typing that) I enjoy reading blogs (let's face it, the time commitment is far more negotiable than reading an actual book), crocheting baby blankets, and spending time with my hubby watching "our shows".

So, that's me... I'm not a complicated person, but I do have a lot to say, so Take A Mom's Word For It!
