Good Bye JK, Hello Summer!

Well, today was the day... my girls finished their very first year of school today - JK. I was so excited for them! They chose dresses to wear and were pumped to see their friends and teacher one more time. I dropped them off at school as I have been doing every school day since they started in September. I drove home, said hi to my hubby (he works from home and was busy feeding our youngest her breakfast), and sobbed.

I sobbed for a good 3 minutes. Thing was, I was feeling sorry for myself. Today was the last day I get to take any of my children to school. I've alluded to it a couple times before, but come September of this year, I'll be returning to work. I am an elementary school teacher which means, I would need to be at work before the girls are off to school. Not only that, but it was my last morning to spend some quality time with Little S, just the two of us.

I know, I know, I was lucky to have been able to stay home for the 'extra' year after my maternity leave. I know, I know, teachers have the summers off... blah, blah, blah. I was, AM still sad about the whole thing. The silver lining - because hubby works from home he'll be able to take them this fall, not a sitter or daycare and for that I'm glad.

On a happier note... Miss H and Miss A got to choose how we celebrated the start of summer. So true to them, they decided they wanted CAKE! What's a celebration without cake?!

Hi Kady,
It's okay to have that feeling-sorry-for-yourself time, but everything will be fine!
You will definitely appreciate your (plentiful) teacher holidays more when you're no longer on mat leave, that's for sure!
And don't worry about not being able to take your girls to school - just remember they will have a great teacher waiting for them there, just as you will be waiting for your new batch of kindergarteners!
Enjoy the next couple of months, and embrace this time in your life - the good and the bad!
