Friday Follow, Mommy Tips & a GIVEAWAY!!

Friday Follow

Happy (Early) Friday Follow! It is going to be a CRAZY weekend here - so I needed to post early... now or never they say!! All 3 of my girls' birthdays are in April and this Saturday we are throwing a 3 in 1 Birthday Party Extravaganza - complete with bouncy castle, ball pit, pizza and 3 cakes!! ... please, wish me luck! We also have my hubby's family (mom, brother and fam, and sister and fam) coming later Friday night to spend the *entire* weekend! ... yes, wish me luck here too!

In the meantime, I am hosting my very own giveaway!! YAY!

My hubby and I were standing around with a couple of friends the other day - they had just entered the world of true suburbia and bought a minivan! Yes, you know you're old and practical when... Anyway, I was joking and said that the van wasn't a true mommy-mobile until someone threw up in it. When my twins were younger they both (though one a little more than the other) suffered from motion sickness! There's nothing like having to stop at a less than clean rest stop along the highway with 2 screaming children and a odor far worse than any rotten egg!

After about the 5th time (I'm a fast study - haha!), we had the ingenious idea to line their car seats with the blanket-like diaper changing pad. Presto! It's super easy and makes for a fast clean on those long drives! Our friends thought we were brilliant (ok, so they never actually said that, but I could see it in their eyes!).

And now for the GIVEAWAY!! I will be offering up one of my very own, hand-crocheted beanies (you can specify infant or toddler/school age) and a boutique large flower hair clip!

Entry is super simple!

train your child(ren) to stay on a blanket and play quietly for a short (or long, depending on age) amount of time. Worth the effort! Now I can take a shower, make dinner, do my bible study, or whatever while my 3 year old plays by herself without getting into everything!

I'm sure most mothers already know this, but this is the one item we use all the time. Baby oil. For her dry scalp and excema. Before her bath we rub baby oil into her head with cotton balls and then brush it out during her bath (it normally takes a couple of baths to wash all of it away)..some people even leave the baby oil in for a few days. After her bath when she's still wet we put baby oil all over her to help clear up her excema. We used to use baby lotion, but she broke out in a rash one time so have stuck with baby oil ever since. The bonus to this is does she ever smell good!

Something that saves a lot of time is when we cook a meal, I separate the portions into lunch size so when it is time to pack our lunch for the week, they are already ready to go. Makes the week mornings go so much smoother.

Mommy Tip - struggling to get chores done, have your toddler help. Mine with sit in our double kitchen sink. I'll rinse dishes to get ready to be put in the dishwasher and he'll play with some of his own.
He also pushes the laundry into the washing machine. I just put the laundry on the edge for him and we load it together. He'll also help put the clothes in the dryer, close the door and press the button to start.

Leave your house messy. No one is going to fall off the face of the earth if the house is a disaster. And, make a fort with the kiddos. They love forts! Thanks for the giveaway!

for house work I like to make a game of things....It's sprints to the garbage can, toy basketball, and the older children all have a big chore for the day. A chore chart hangs in the dining room so that everyone knows what their task of the day is. Small prizes and things like that is an AWESOME touch and keeps them motivated to help. ;) GOOD LUCK!!!

Don't worry so much about the little things.. So she wants to wear her plastic pink heels to the mall, and they really don't fit. Let her. It will make her happy and it really doesn't matter in the whole scheme of things. Life is about enjoying the moment. Enjoy your children - they grow up and are gone too quick.

I have a small toddler that LOVES juice and REFUSES to drink water so I fill his sippy cup with mostly water and add a "splash" of juice...works like a charm and he isn't getting a ton of extra calories or sugar.

My tip is: ask older siblings to help with a new baby - something as simple as hand you wipes or pick out the baby's clothes. It will be a help to you, and the older sibling will feel like a big helper.

My tip is - if your baby likes pacifiers make sure to always grab a few extra. Keep them within reach so if you need to pop one in while driving you can just grab it from your cup holder, reach back and pop it in. No need to feel around in the car seat for the lost pacifier.

If your disposable diapers are always leaking, you need to move up a size! Just because it says it fits up to 28 pounds, doesn't mean that it actually does!
