First Movie Experience

Well, my hubby and I took our 5 year olds (Miss A & Miss H) to their very FIRST movie experience today... Shrek Forever After. I did bring the camera (yes, I'm one of 'those' mothers), but there just wasn't a good time for pictures - sad for me, relief for my hubby! ;)

We were pretty excited when the ticket guy gave us 3D glasses - guess I should have paid more attention to the advertisements, I had had no idea! So, equipped with their popcorn and glasses, they tried to sit and wait for the show to begin but they didn't weigh enough to stop the seats from folding!! You should have seen Miss A's face when her legs came up and nearly hit her in the face!

The movie itself was great! And despite reading that some of the scenes were scary, my girls didn't find them at all that way... whew! Though maybe the true test is seeing if everyone sleeps the night! The overall storyline was a little tricky for their 5 year old minds, but they still thoroughly enjoyed it! There were some moments of great humour where the entire theatre lit up with childhood laughter - it was great!

The only down side really to the whole thing was the cost! It had been so long since I had been that I forgot just how expensive it can be... $48 just to get in! Then of course there were the concession items... jeesh!

If you're considering taking your little ones I say go for it! We all had a great time! Toy Story 3 comes out next month... can't wait!

LOL...your post caused me to reminisce on my 1st movie visit with my eldest child. "Rug Rats Goes to Paris" was the movie. That was my first experience, and taught me a lesson of proper age for a child, why potty training is very important, and always, always bring extra clothing. Glad you and your family enjoyed the movie.

Love your blog!! Totally entering your giveaways, they are awesome!! My husband and I plan on taking our little guy to see Toy Story 3 too, he LOVES the Toy Story movies so we're hoping its a good experience!! Thanks for sharing your experience! It made me think about how to make it a better experience for all of us!! I think I will bring his travel booster chair tho to keep him in one place and be able to feed him snacks a little easier!! ;)

WOW I haven't been in a long time to the movies either! My parents use to take us to the drive in, I want to do that with our boys some time too.
